Berlin hotel projects in focus

Students in the Bachelor's degree programme "International Hotel Management" undertook a excursion to interesting hotel projects in Berlin as part of the course "Hotel Development".

About 20 students of the bachelor course "International Hotel Management" undertook a excursion to interesting hotel projects in Berlin within the framework of the course "Hotel Development", led by Prof. Dr. Hartwig Bohne. First, they spoke with investor and owner Felix Gädecke about new construction projects in Berlin and Düsseldorf. Thereby, the students in the 6th semester received extensive insider information regarding the planning of hotels, tips, tricks, and pitfalls as well as the role of city administrations and architects.

Afterwards, the group visited the Hotel Oderberger Berlin and was educated in detail by director Verena Jaeschke about the conversion of the former city pool into a four-star hotel. Finally, the group met Ute Zachow at the recently opened Niu Hide on the parking deck of the "RingCenter" shopping centre on Frankfurter Allee. Here, innovative approaches to efficient space utilisation were combined with a creative hotel approach and the centre's space management was also optimised.

"Three very different concepts that represent the range of hotel projects and thus increased the appetite for further concepts and architectural ideas," concluded the excursion leader Prof. Dr. Bohne.
